The Ghost of Chimborozo

Barker: Step right up, next in the Sideshow
is a soldier from Chimborozo.
He died far from home, he died all alone.
He can’t seem to find his way out of our play.

Battle, gunshot sounds

Ghost of Chimborozo: They brought me here because they thought I’d get better.
They brought me to this place, this place where death
is the least of your worries. They brought me here to live.
That’s funny. I always thought that was funny.

I don’t have time to speak in rhyme.
I’m goin’ home. I know I’m goin’ home.
I just want to get there.
I don’t want to talk to you.
I don’t want to be here.
I didn’t want to be here.
Here I am anyway.

I was in Petersburg, a place already full of ghosts.
I knew when you died you hung around.
I didn’t know I’d stay here.
I don’t want to stay here.
I don’t want to be here.
I just want to get there.
I just want to get home where everything is ok
and alive. Everyone was alive.

I saw hands and feet thrown in that river
‘till I couldn’t see the river any more.
I saw whole arms and legs too.
One day they were mine.
